Welcome to the Rapp Art end-of-Summer send off!

This Summer really flew by, but our artists were able to fit in a lot of great work. Take a few minutes to check out our highlights of the season before you head out for Labor Day weekend festivities!

Summer Update: College and University Projects

This month on the blog we covered recent higher education projects, from campus posters to college and university magazines – including the Summer issue of Marquette Lawyer for which four of our artists provided illustration in a range of styles.

See what we’ve been working on.

The Ultimate Driving Book

Shaw Nielsen illustrated Emma Carlson Berne’s essential guide for new drivers and car owners, published by Odd Dot Books. With 160 pages of illustrations and infographics, the manual covers everything drivers need to know, from changing a tire to merging onto the highway. Shaw’s humorous art matches the lighthearted writing style and makes this a fun and informative guide!

Lincoln’s Springfield Exhibit

Comic art duo Peter and Maria Hoey collaborated with McCullough Creative and the Lincoln Presidential Foundation on “Lincoln’s Springfield” – an interactive exhibit at The Corneau House across from The Lincoln Home National Historic Site in Springfield, IL. The exhibit focuses on the lives of six neighbors of Abraham Lincoln and the impact they made in their community. Their stories are brought to life by the Hoeys’ illustrations in the form of graphic narratives, life-size cutouts and interactive features. So much awesome illustration went into this project; see it all here.

One in 100

Kathleen Fu worked with Toronto-based charity Safehaven on artwork for their new search-and-find storybook, “One in 100“. Safehaven provides services and resources for those with disabilities and medical complexities, and the book raises awareness around the number of children living with these differences. In each of the nine scenes of the composition, 1 of 100 children has a medical complexity.

Here are a few scenes from the composition – you can imagine how detailed the full piece is! See it here along with a time lapse of Kathleen’s mesmerizing drawing process.

Work Update: Dan Page

This collection of recent editorial work by Dan Page show his tendency to bring a fresh and imaginative perspective to any subject, all wrapped up in a striking visual.
