For 35 years John S. Dykes has worked on over four-thousand five hundred illustration assignments

for hundreds of clients, earning recognition and awards from top illustration industry associations. Among these organizations are The Society of Illustrators, Communication Arts, American Illustration, 3×3 Illustration Annual, Print Magazine, and The Los Angeles Society of Illustrators (gold & silver medals). He was included in the Luerzer’s Archive Top 200 Best Illustrators Worldwide. John has created illustrations for consumer magazines, newspapers, advertising, corporate publications and books. In addition to his interest in illustration, John has developed series of larger paintings, high visibility public projects, and murals. His ongoing self-generated projects and paintings have always played a vital part in his growth as an artist. 

John’s work is included in the permanent collection of The New Britain Museum of American Art as well as in many private collections. Recently, The Norman Rockwell Museum in Stockbridge, MA acquired twenty-three of John’s original illustrations for their permanent collection.  

Among John’s list of exhibitions and group shows are Brigham Young University, National Baseball Hall of Fame, Norman Rockwell Museum, Savannah Collage of Art, Society of Illustrators, The International Museum of Cartoon Art, The Stamford Museum, The Delaware Art Museum, and The Art Institute of California. 

John has taught illustration at Rhode Island School of Design and New Hampshire Institute of Art and has widely presented his work.
