Tara Jacoby
Biography ▼
Tara is an illustrator and art director who lives in Philadelphia with two nearly identical dogs (and a lot of plants!) in a home which she perpetually and obsessively curates. She grew up on a farm in South Jersey, but spent most of her time drawing indoors until she was inevitably forced to “go play outside.”
Tara eventually moved to NYC where she studied illustration and worked at the Society of Illustrators. After college she went on to work full-time as an in-house illustrator and art director at Gawker Media. She continued to work in news media for about a decade, but has decided not to do that anymore. She also taught illustration at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, but she doesn’t do that anymore either. She’s since shifted focus to her illustration career.
Aside from illustrating, fawning over her dogs and the endless pursuit of perfecting her home, Tara has been keeping pretty busy. She’s currently working toward a gallery show and has finally resumed writing and illustrating her children’s book… that she swears she’ll finish by EOY!
Tara has worked with a wide range of clients, some of which include The Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, The LA Times, AARP, Esquire, Macmillan Publishers, Playboy, Masterclass, VICE, VOX, the Philadelphia Eagles and many more.
