Rapp Artists for Teaching Tolerance

Teaching Tolerance, a publication from Southern Poverty Law Center, makes wonderful use of illustration. The publication is devoted to diversity, equity, and justice in education, and includes many thought-provoking articles. Teaching Tolerance hires some of the country’s best editorial illustrators and we are regular contributors. Thank you! This issue features four Rapp artists. Peter Horjus was selected for the cover, along with Eva Vazquez, Shaw Nielsen, and Jim Tsinganos for full page openers. It is a wonderful collection of images.

Peter Horjus

Peter created the cover image for this issue, along with a few spots to accompany an article about finding uses for technology in schools that “promote learning, development and success” for children.

Jim Tsinganos

Jim illustrated this very interesting piece for the title page of an article on educator Ruby Payne who has created various strategies for teaching students in poverty since 1996. Her goal is to teach educators “the critical role schools can play in helping children and teens exit poverty,”
